WelcomeRev. Diane Thomas, PastorDear Friends in Christ, Greetings from your new pastor and teacher! I am so very excited to have been called to serve the congregation of Faith United Community United Church of Christ. I had a wonderful time joining you in worship on October 31. I so appreciated your gracious welcome. Needless to say, I am eager to join with you as we begin our faith journey together in January. Right now I am finishing up a teaching assignment in the Pendergast School District in Phoenix. I have been working as a substitute teacher for almost three years. In addition to teaching, I also volunteer as an English language tutor with the Southwest Valley Literacy Association. I am active in the life of the congregation of Shadow Rock United Church of Christ in Phoenix, and from time to time volunteer at the Desert Botanical Garden. I moved to Arizona from Ohio in 2007. I grew up in Cleveland, and spent most of my adult years in the Columbus area. My most recent pastorate was with a UCC congregation in Sycamore, Ohio. I have two sons who are living and working in Ohio. I have two rescued cats who are quite comfortable reminding me that they are really in charge at home. I’m sure they are looking forward to the move as well. I think they have exhausted their imaginations chasing desert lizards and pesky cottontails from the security of the living room windows. All these coming weeks will also be full of changes and transitions. As the weeks unfold, my prayer for us all is that we can greet these days of endings and beginnings with a sense of celebration and joy.
