Grace and Peace be with you!

 Welcome to Faith United Community Church, UCC, in Dewey, AZ.  We are a community church, affiliated with the United Church of Christ.  Our members and friends are a diverse group.  We include persons from many backgrounds, as for example, Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, Congregationalists, Presbyterians, Roman Catholic, Pentecostals and even our own denomination, the UCC!  

We work hard at learning from one another and respecting the various customs and traditions.  The basic focus, however, is “to seek God’s face,” as the Psalmist says, and to strive to reflect the love and humility seen in the life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  This takes a lot of “seeking” and praying.  And sometimes there are those rough edges, as one would expect. 

 We invite you to be part of this journey of joy and struggle.  Whatever life brings or wherever you may be in that journey, God can speak a redemptive word of grace and truth, to lead you to a new level of faith and understanding, and finally to that peace which is beyond our human understanding.  (--the Apostle Paul’s Letter to the Christians in the Greek City of Philippi, chapter 4, verse 7.)

 As the Interim Pastor, part of my work is to help us all to take a clear and honest look at ourselves, our styles of relating and how we work together.  By taking seriously this “interim process,” we as God’s people may find a greater measure of health and understanding – or “wisdom,” as perhaps the Scriptures would put it.

Usually this interim period of self-reflection and, hopefully, positive transformation, takes between 12 and 24 months.  The interim period closes when the Search Committee calls a new pastor.  The interim period is exciting, as churches are more open to change – and growing in their faith—than at any other time in their common life.  [--written, Nov. 2008]
